At first, this metro station was named as Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station. On September 24, 2016, it was renamed as Honda 2 Wheelers Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station. This metro station as a project was initiated in the year 2004, nearly 14 years ago, and was inaugurated in 2009. The preceding metro station of the Vishwavidyalaya station is GTB Nagar Metro and the following station is Vidhan Sabha Metro Station.
